From Somerset, it's about 15 to 20 minutes to licensed cannabis in Bayport

Hey, I'm Brandon. My Dealer is a state-licensed cannabis store in Bayport, Minnesota, just over the St. Croix Crossing bridge from Somerset. Adults 21+ with a valid ID, including a Wisconsin license, can shop here. The catch is simple: buy it in Minnesota and use it in Minnesota.

The one rule: it stays in Minnesota

Somerset is close, which makes this easy to forget, so I'll say it plainly. Cannabis from My Dealer is legal in Minnesota only. Don't take it back over the St. Croix Crossing. Wisconsin law treats THC (outside of legal hemp) as a controlled substance, and St. Croix County, which includes Somerset, has its own possession ordinance too.

Plan to use it on the Minnesota side, at a private residence or on private property where the owner says it's fine. The guide for Wisconsin shoppers lays out the law with sources.

Local rules in Somerset

Somerset is in St. Croix County, where county Chapter 58 bans marijuana possession (up to 25 grams, first offense), with a forfeiture of $125 to $500. St. Croix County ch. 58 (PDF) The Village of Somerset's own code (Sec. 11-2-11) also bans possessing 25 grams or less of marijuana; we haven't verified its fine. Somerset Code Sec. 11-2-11 State law applies on top of these local rules.

In Bayport, City Code Sec. 26-77 (Ordinance 891, adopted August 7, 2023) bans smoking cannabis or hemp products in public places, and Sec. 26-28 bans open containers of cannabis or hemp drinks on streets, sidewalks, and other public places. Bayport Code ch. 26

Getting here from Somerset

From the Village of Somerset

Head west out of the village on Main Street, which turns into County Road VV, and get on Highway 35/64 heading west toward Minnesota. Cross the river on the St. Croix Crossing bridge. Highway 95 is the first exit on the Minnesota side, signed for Bayport and Stillwater. Turn left to head south on St. Croix Trail and stay on 95 about a mile and a half. It becomes 3rd Street in Bayport, and we're on your left, next to the American Legion and the post office, across from City Hall.

No interstate needed

This route uses the St. Croix Crossing, not I-94, so the I-94 bridge work near Hudson doesn't affect it. The old Stillwater Lift Bridge is for people walking and biking, not cars, so stay on 35/64.

About 11 miles, roughly 15 to 20 minutes (approximate).

Approximate drive time and distance: OpenStreetMap routing (OSRM), checked October 22, 2026, about 11 miles and about 17 minutes without traffic. Allow extra time when traffic is heavy.

Hemp THC on December 11: what changes, and what doesn't

Heads up for Wisconsin shoppers looking for cannabis near Somerset. Under current federal law, starting December 11, 2026, a finished hemp product with more than 0.4 mg of total THC per package (the can, bottle, or bag it's sold in) no longer meets the federal definition of hemp. So do hemp products made with lab-converted cannabinoids. That covers most hemp THC gummies, vapes, and drinks, including delta-8. This is a federal change, not a new Wisconsin law. Wisconsin's hemp law hasn't changed, and two Wisconsin bills to regulate hemp THC products, AB 747 and SB 682, did not pass.

Minnesota has its own hemp law. The Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management says the federal change doesn't change how Minnesota defines lower-potency hemp edibles and drinks, or whether they're legal under Minnesota law. OCM also notes that many hemp products that comply with Minnesota law, such as packages with more than 0.4 mg of THC, won't meet the new federal definition, which could affect hemp businesses' banking, taxes, and interstate shipping.

The licensed cannabis we sell was never hemp. It's what a lot of people mean by real weed: grown as cannabis by licensed Minnesota cultivators and tracked from seed to sale by the state. It's legal under Minnesota law only, and it's still illegal under federal law and in Wisconsin. Come visit Bayport, about 15 to 20 minutes from Somerset over the St. Croix Crossing. Everything you buy here, cannabis or hemp, is for use in Minnesota only.

Where Wisconsin cannabis law stands

As of October 22, 2026, Wisconsin has no adult-use or medical cannabis program. In the 2025-2026 session, lawmakers introduced a medical cannabis bill, a legalization bill, and several bills to regulate hemp THC products. None passed; all failed on March 23, 2026, under the session schedule, after the last regular floor period ended in mid-March. The Wisconsin shoppers guide lists each bill, its sponsors, and how to reach your legislators.

Deli flower: ounces from $210, about 15 to 20 minutes from Somerset

Deli flower is the budget-friendly way to buy here. It's real flower, grown as cannabis by licensed Minnesota cultivators, and it's a short drive over the St. Croix Crossing. It's weighed to order at the counter on certified scales, right in front of you, so you pick the amount, from a single gram up to two ounces, the Minnesota limit for one purchase. Mixing strains within a tier still counts toward the bulk price.

Ounces run $210 or $225 depending on the tier. The more you buy, the less each gram costs. In the $11 tier, a single gram is $11, 3.5 g works out to $10.00 a gram, 14 g to $8.57 a gram, and a full ounce to $7.50 a gram. The $12 tier steps down the same way, to $8.04 a gram at the ounce. Same rule as everything else here: it stays in Minnesota, so plan where you'll use it on this side of the river.

$11 tier

$7.50/g at the ounce

  • 1 g$11
  • 3.5 g$35
  • 7 g$65
  • 14 g$120
  • 28 g$210

  • 1 g$12
  • 3.5 g$38

  • 14 g$130
  • 28 g$225

Combined quantity: mix and match strains within a tier, and the total weight sets the price. Prices as of October 22, 2026. Which strains sit in each tier changes with every batch, so check the flower menu for today's lineup. Adults 21+ with valid ID.

Somerset questions

Can I bring it back to Somerset?

No. Cannabis isn't legal in Wisconsin, and taking it across the river is illegal under state law. Somerset is in St. Croix County, and the county's possession ordinance (ch. 58) carries a $125 to $500 forfeiture. The Village of Somerset also has its own possession ordinance (Sec. 11-2-11). Buy in Minnesota, use it in Minnesota. Details and sources are on our Wisconsin shoppers page.

Is there a licensed dispensary in Somerset?

No. There's no state-licensed cannabis retail anywhere in Wisconsin. A store near Somerset calling itself a dispensary is selling hemp or CBD products, not licensed cannabis.

Where can I buy THC near Somerset after December 11?

If a "dispensary near me" search in Somerset turns up hemp shops, that's because Wisconsin still has no licensed cannabis stores. Under current federal law, starting December 11, 2026, hemp products with more than 0.4 mg of total THC per package no longer meet the federal definition of hemp. For real cannabis, My Dealer is a Minnesota-licensed cannabis retailer in Bayport, about 15 to 20 minutes from Somerset, for adults 21+ with valid ID. Licensed cannabis is legal under Minnesota law only, and everything we sell is for use in Minnesota only.

How long is the drive from Somerset?

About 11 miles and roughly 15 to 20 minutes from the village, depending on traffic: Highway 35/64 west over the St. Croix Crossing, the first exit for Highway 95, then south about a mile and a half to Bayport.

Which bridge should I take from Somerset?

The St. Croix Crossing, on Highway 35/64. The old Stillwater Lift Bridge is open to people walking and biking, not cars.
