FAQ

My Dealer FAQ: Your Cannabis Dispensary in Bayport, MN

Hey, I'm Brandon. I own My Dealer, and these are the questions people have been asking since we opened the doors on October 5. If yours isn't here, call the store at 651-323-1266 and ask.

Finding us and getting in

Where is My Dealer?

243 3rd Street North in Bayport, MN 55003. That's Highway 95 right through downtown Bayport. We're next door to the American Legion and the post office, across from city hall and the police station. The sign sits flat on the brick, so look for the face with the hat.

Is there a dispensary near Stillwater?

Yes, us. We're a few minutes south of Stillwater on Highway 95, right across the river from Wisconsin. From Highway 36, take the Stillwater/Bayport exit (MN-95) and head south about 2 minutes. We'll be on your left. From I-94, take Exit 258 and go about 4 miles north on 95. We'll be on your right.

Where do I park?

Park in the back. We have a paved lot behind the building. There's also street parking right out front on Highway 95, and a public lot at City Hall across the street. You can come in through the front or the back entrance, whichever is closer.

What are your hours?

Noon to 8, every day. Longer hours are on the way, and I'll update this page when they change.

Are you a chain?

No. It's one locally owned store. I got a Minnesota social equity retail license, put a second mortgage on the house, and built most of this place myself. Wabasha is next, but right now it's just Bayport.

Is this real cannabis or a hemp shop?

Real cannabis. We're licensed by the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), Cannabis Retailer License DIS-L24-000241. Our flower is grown as cannabis by licensed Minnesota cultivators and tracked by the state from seed to sale. We also carry some hemp-derived products, and those are labeled as hemp so you always know which is which.

ID and age

Do I need to be 21 to shop?

Yes. Everyone has to be 21 or older with a valid ID. We check ID every visit, no exceptions.

Can I bring someone under 21 with me?

No. Nobody under 21 is allowed in the store, even with a parent or another adult.

What ID do you accept?

  • A driver's license or state ID from any U.S. state
  • A Canadian driver's license or ID
  • A Tribal ID
  • A U.S. passport or passport card
  • A Minnesota instructional permit, if you're 21 or older
  • A passport, if you're a foreign national

We can't take expired IDs, altered IDs, or a foreign driver's license or national ID card (that's state law, not us being picky). The photo has to match you.

Wisconsin, Hudson, and crossing the river

I live in Wisconsin. Can I buy at My Dealer?

Yes. Any adult 21 or older with a valid ID can buy here, including Wisconsin residents, within Minnesota's limits. Just know that what you buy is legal in Minnesota only. Cannabis isn't legal in Wisconsin, and you can't take it across the river.

Is there a cannabis dispensary in Hudson, WI?

Not a licensed one. Cannabis isn't legal in Wisconsin, so there are no licensed cannabis dispensaries there. A shop on that side of the river calling itself a dispensary is a hemp, smoke, or tobacco-type store, not a state-licensed cannabis retailer. The closest licensed option is on the Minnesota side, and in this part of the St. Croix Valley, that's us in Bayport.

Shopping and preorders

How do I shop at My Dealer?

Three ways:

  • In person with a budtender. Look at the menu ahead of time if you want, then talk it through at the counter. We have paper menus too.
  • On the iPad kiosk in the store, if you'd rather browse on your own. You can also scan a QR code to pull the menu up on your phone.
  • Preorder online and pick it up.

Can I order ahead for pickup?

Yes. Use the live menu at mydealermn.com/bayport to place a preorder for pickup the same day or the next day. You pay when you pick up, and bring your ID. If an order isn't picked up by the end of the next day, it goes back into inventory.

Do you have an app?

Not yet. A My Dealer customer app is coming soon. Until then, use the live menu at mydealermn.com/bayport to browse and preorder.

Do you deliver?

Not right now. Everything is in-store or preorder for pickup. If that changes, it'll be on this page.

What we carry

What products do you have?

  • Deli flower, sold by the gram
  • Packaged flower (pre-packs)
  • Pre-rolls, singles and packs
  • Vapes and carts
  • THC gummies and other edibles
  • Hemp edibles and hemp THC beverages
  • Hemp topicals
  • Cannabis seeds
  • Accessories

The menu changes as new batches come in, so check mydealermn.com/bayport for what's actually on the shelf today.

What's deli flower?

It's flower we portion out for you at the counter, priced by the gram, so you can get exactly the amount you want instead of a fixed jar size. The per-gram price drops when you buy more.

Paying

Do you take credit cards?

No. We take cash, or your debit card through our cashless ATM. We also have a regular ATM on site. The cashless ATM has a $3 fee, the same idea as a regular ATM. It runs in $10 steps, so your withdrawal rounds up to the nearest $10 and we hand you the difference back in cash.

Why don't you give coins?

We don't use coins. After tax, every total rounds up to the nearest dollar, and that little bit goes straight to the employees as their tip.

Do I need to tip?

No. The roundup is the tip. Nobody here expects anything extra.

What taxes are on cannabis in Minnesota?

Cannabis products have a 15% Minnesota cannabis gross receipts tax, plus state and local sales taxes of roughly 8%. Those rates can change each quarter. All taxes show on your receipt.

Discounts and membership

Do you have a veteran discount?

Yes. Veterans and active military get 15% off every day. Show a valid military or veteran ID at checkout. These discounts don't stack, but don't worry, you'll get the best possible discount on your cart.

Is there a discount for Andersen employees?

Yes. Andersen employees get 10% off every Tuesday. Show your valid Andersen ID at checkout. These discounts don't stack, but don't worry, you'll get the best possible discount on your cart.

Do you have a rewards program?

Yes. Give us your phone number to sign up and you'll earn 3% back in points on your purchases, plus member deals. Nearly all of our promotions are for members only. If you're a member viewing the menu online, log in to see all deals applied.

Can I combine discounts?

Generally, no. Discounts don't stack, and that includes the veteran and military discount and Andersen Tuesdays, unless a promo specifically says it stacks. You'll automatically get the single best discount for your cart. If a BOGO beats 15% off, you get the BOGO. You're never stuck with the lesser deal.

Limits and the law

How much cannabis can I buy at once?

Minnesota law caps each purchase at:

  • 2 ounces of cannabis flower
  • 8 grams of concentrate (vape carts count here)
  • 800 milligrams of THC in edibles, and that includes hemp edibles and hemp THC beverages

The same numbers are the most you can carry in public in Minnesota.

Can I use it in the parking lot or my car?

No. Minnesota law doesn't allow using cannabis in a vehicle, and that includes the parking lot. Use it at home or on private property where it's allowed.

Can I drive after using cannabis?

No. Driving while impaired by cannabis is illegal in Minnesota, and it's a bad idea even if you feel fine. Get a ride or wait it out.

Medical cannabis

Do you sell medical cannabis?

Not yet. Right now we sell adult-use cannabis only, to customers 21 and older. We're working on our medical cannabis retail endorsement, and we plan to begin medical sales around January 1, 2027. That's our plan, not a guarantee, and we'll update this page when it's official.

Once we have the endorsement, patients enrolled in the Minnesota Medical Cannabis Program won't pay the 15% cannabis gross receipts tax or state and local sales tax on medical cannabis purchases. That exemption is set by Minnesota law and only applies to Minnesota registry patients buying from a business with a medical cannabis retail endorsement. Visiting patients from other states and patients in Tribal medical cannabis programs don't qualify for it.

To enroll, you have to be a Minnesota resident, and a health care practitioner has to certify that you have a qualifying medical condition. The Office of Cannabis Management's current list of qualifying medical conditions:

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Autism spectrum disorder (must meet DSM-5)
  • Cancer*
  • Chronic motor or vocal tic disorder
  • Chronic pain
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease
  • Intractable Pain
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy
  • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Terminal illness, with a probable life expectancy of less than one year*
  • Tourette syndrome
  • Any medical condition for which a patient's health care practitioner has recommended, approved, or authorized the use of cannabis by that individual to treat the condition

*If the illness or its treatment produces one or more of the following: severe or chronic pain; nausea or severe vomiting; or cachexia or severe wasting.

For enrollment details, see the Office of Cannabis Management's Division of Medical Cannabis at mn.gov/ocm. We can't diagnose or certify anyone, and this isn't medical advice.

Cannabis basics

What does THC % mean?

It's how much of the product's weight is THC. Most of the THC in raw cannabis flower is THCA, which turns into delta-9 THC when it's heated. So labels and our menu show total THC, which Minnesota calculates as delta-9 THC + (THCA x 0.877). That total THC number is the one to compare. A higher number means stronger, not better. Aroma, terpenes, and your own experience matter a lot more than chasing the biggest number. For edibles, look at milligrams (mg) instead of a percentage.

What's the difference between hemp and cannabis?

Legally, it comes down to THC. Under federal law today, hemp is the cannabis plant with no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry weight basis. Minnesota uses the same 0.3% delta-9 THC line for the hemp plant (Minn. Stat. 342.01), and Minnesota looks at total THC, including THCA, when it decides whether flower counts as hemp or cannabis. Anything over the line is cannabis. Federal law is also set to switch to a total THC standard in December 2026. Minnesota regulates hemp-derived THC products too, like hemp edibles and hemp THC beverages, with the same 21+ age limit, testing, and labeling rules. Everything we sell is labeled as either cannabis or hemp.

What's the difference between indica, sativa, and hybrid?

They're loose labels, not promises. Strains that were once separated by geography have been carried around the world and cross-bred for decades, so pure indicas or pure sativas are hard to find now. Our menu labels each strain as Sativa, Sativa-dominant, Hybrid, Indica-dominant, or Indica to show which way it leans. The same strain name can also differ from one grower to the next, because the genetics behind the name aren't always the same. Ask a budtender about a specific batch.

How much of an edible should I take?

Start low and go slow. If you're new, or it's been a while, try half a 10 mg gummy (about 5 mg) or less. Edibles usually take 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in, sometimes longer, and can last several hours. Don't take more just because you don't feel it yet. Wait at least two hours before you think about another piece.

Is it okay to mix cannabis and alcohol?

We don't recommend it. Mixing the two can hit a lot harder than either one alone. Pick one.

How should I store cannabis at home?

Keep flower in an airtight container, like the original packaging or a glass jar, in a cool, dark place. A relative humidity of around 58 to 62% keeps it from drying out or getting too damp. We sell small two-way humidity packs that hold it in that range. Most of all, lock it up, out of reach of kids and pets. Edibles especially can look like regular candy, so don't leave them anywhere a kid or a dog could get to them.

Can your budtenders give medical advice?

No. We can talk about products, formats, and what's on the label, but we're not doctors. If you have a health condition or take medication, talk to a health care professional.

Making a day of it

Anything else to do while I'm in Bayport?

If you're coming over from Wisconsin or just passing through, downtown Bayport is small and easy to walk.

  • Not Justa Cafe, just down 3rd Street, serves breakfast all day. My go-to is the omelette.
  • The American Legion right next door has cheese curds with a homemade blackberry barbecue dipping sauce. Best dipping sauce around, if you ask me.
  • Woody's, also on 3rd Street a few doors down, makes a fire homemade Bloody Mary and jalapeño poppers. It seems the closer to the Wisconsin border you are, the better the Bloody Mary.
